Topic for August 25-29:  Name one cancelled/retired TV show you'd love to see back on with new episodes.

There's only one TV show that comes to mind ... LOST. I loved it, and it was one of my favorite series. I just wish the ending would've left better closure. So, I'd love for LOST to come back on with new episodes, and to hear those famous words ... "Previously, on Lost."

Topic for Aug 4-8 Who were your celebrity crushes when you were a teen?
Johnny Depp - I fell for him when 21 Jump Street graced my television.  And he's grown more beautiful with age. I'll always heart him.
John Stamos - Blackie from General Hospital and Jessie from Full House. He made me laugh and cry on a weekly basis.
Oh, and he could sing. *sigh*

Topic for Aug 11-15 What in one thing Steampunkish you find fascinating from books, TV, movies, and/or the internet?
I'm not a fashion guru or anything like that. I don't even enjoy shopping (unless I'm getting an awesome deal) But the designs of steampunk outfits amaze me.

Who were your celeb crushes as a teen?
Like Steampunk? What's your favorite thing about it?

<-- Here's the EYM badge for August.

July was a crazy month, so I got wayyyyyyy behind! :( Here's two of them. I'll try to start on August this week!

Topic for the week of July 21-25: What are some fave items that bring you comfort and/or hold special memories?

My sis is a sewing genius. She's made the nursery bedding for my two youngest sons, as well as quilts for the rest of my family.
I have one she made me that I sleep with. Yes, I have a blankie. :)

Do you have anything that brings you comfort or holds special memories?

Topic for the week of July 28-August 1: Who would you choose to portray you in a movie?

I couldn't think of who I'd choose to portray me so I asked my hubby and then fellow blogger, Dani.
Leo said,  "Rachel McAdams, not the Rachel McAdams from Mean Girls. The Rachel from The Vow or The Time Traveler’s Wife or of course the Notebook."
I'm glad he doesn't think I'm a Mean Girl! LOL
Dani said, "Sandra Bullock. She is funny and serious at the same time. And seems like such a cool person!"
Both of these choices are perfect because, when Leo and I watch these actresses in their movies, he says things like, "That is so you." or "That's something you'd do."
So they picked great ones to portray me.

Who would you like to portray you in a movie?

Blog tour: The Rose Master by Valentina Cano

The Rose Master by Valentina Cano
Kindle edition
Paperback
Published June 2014 by REUTS Publications, LLC

I'm so excited to share an excerpt from Valentina Cano's The Rose Master with you! It's been described as Jane Eyre meets Beauty and the Beast with a Gothic slash historical fiction slash horror feel to it.
I adore this book! Such a brilliant story that made it hard to put down. And when I did, it consumed my thoughts throughout the day. That's beautiful writing right there!

Excerpt of The Rose Master:
Through the mirror, I could see Lord Grey’s figure half melted in shadow. I turned around and clasped my hands behind me.
“I’m sorry, sir.” I looked down at the floor, thankful the moon could not reveal my burning cheeks. There was a long moment of silence.
“Is the floor very interesting, Anne?”
I flinched. “No, sir.” I lifted my gaze, heavy and hot.
Lord Grey walked to the table, where his plate was lying, covered and waiting.
“If you don’t mind, Anne, I’m going to have dinner. Or is it lunch? I can’t remember when I last ate.” His voice was like the sea at night, the waves coming in and out of darkness. Some words were brushed by light, some cool with black.
“Of course, sir. I’ll go.” I curtsied before remembering how he’d taken my last clumsy attempt. He did not laugh this time.
“That’s not what I meant. If you don’t have pressing engagements, I’d like a few words with you.”
Hmm. Only a few days and I’d already earned a reprimand. “Of course, sir.”
“Will you please take a seat?” He motioned to the table. I blinked.
“Sir, do you mean, in a chair?”
“No, I mean in mid-air. In a chair, Anne.”
Lord Grey pulled back his seat at the head of the grotesque table and sat without a sound.
“Would you like me to light a candle or lamp, sir?”
“No, that’s quite all right.”
My hands shook as I grasped the chair I’d scrubbed that morning and every morning for the past three weeks, sitting down on the tip of the seat, allowing only the minimum of my body contact with the grand furniture.
“Would you like some wine?” he asked as he uncovered the decanter before him.
“No, sir, thank you.”
“I suppose it’s just as well. I don’t know where Dora keeps the bloody glasses.”
My head jerked up at the tone, but he was already sipping at the thick liquid. He began cutting his meat. His hands were steady now, no trace of the twitching I’d seen earlier, but they had cuts on them, puckered edges of skin drying with blood. I winced as he brought a piece of meat up to his lips, knowing the horror of Dora’s cooking, but he made no sign. He ate with an air of distraction, as if his mind were pacing far away while his body nourished itself.
After a few bites, he set his instruments down on the plate and lowered his hands to his lap.
“You must take care not to go about touching things in this house,” he said. “Certain things do not take kindly to being disturbed.” His forehead creased and his eyes shifted to look past me, toward the mirror.

Blurb:
The day Anne Tinning turns seventeen, birds fall from the sky. But that's hardly the most upsetting news. She's being dismissed from the home she's served at since she was a child, and shipped off to become the newly hired parlor maid for a place she's never heard of. And when she sees the run-down, isolated house, she instantly knows why:
There's something wrong with Rosewood Manor.
Staffed with only three other servants, all gripped by icy silence and inexplicable bruises, and inhabited by a young master who is as cold as the place itself, the house is shrouded in neglect and thick with fear. Her questions are met with hushed whispers, and she soon finds herself alone in the empty halls, left to tidy and clean rooms no one visits.
As the feeling of being watched grows, she begins to realize there is something else in the house with them--some creature that stalks the frozen halls and claws at her door. A creature that seems intent on harming her.
When a fire leaves Anne trapped in the manor with its Master, she finally demands to know why. But as she forces the truth about what haunts the grounds from Lord Grey, she learns secrets she isn't prepared for. The creature is very real, and she's the only one who can help him stop it.
Now, Anne must either risk her life for the young man she's grown to admire, or abandon her post while she still can.

It's been a rough few months with this writing slump, but I made it through! *throws confetti
It was a combination of taking a little break and encouragement from my close friends that helped. So thankful for them!

Now, I just need to have faith in myself to keep going, to keep writing.

“Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it’s the answer to everything. … It’s the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus.”  ~ Enid Bagnold
