Express Yourself Meme is done weekly by me and my fellow blogger and friend, Dani @Entertaining Interests. Our goal? To get to know other bloggers better, and learn things that make you, well, you. :D
For this week's topic, we came up with this:
What is the biggest challenge you face socially?
I'm painstakingly shy, so it takes me a bit to warm up to people. I can open up when I'm around fam and friends who I've known for a long time. But with others? I feel knots in my stomach and like I'm about to give a speech in front of the classroom right before throwing up. The feeling is brutal.
Do you have any challenges that you face socially?
Celebrate the small things is the fun weekly meme hosted by Viklit @ Scribblings of an Aspiring Author.
Instructions: Each Friday, share things you wish to celebrate and then hop around to other bloggers to see their celebrations.
- My 10 year old hit his first home run in an All-Stars Tourney! Seeing that cute smile on his face when he talks about it melts my heart.
- My sis gave me an awesome belated birthday present - an autographed vinyl by the band, Papa Roach. When I opened it, I screamed... LOUD. And may or may not have said some bleepity bleeps, but only because I was so excited. :D
Those are fantastic things to celebrate! Go get yourself some chocolate!ReplyDelete
Yes, you can be shy around the right people.ReplyDelete
Congrats on the homerun.
Nice! That is an awesome bday present!
Wonderful things to celebrate, Jackie. Your little boy must be so excited about his home run! I love baseball so I can imagine how both of you felt.ReplyDelete
It's okay to be shy. I don't like big crowds of people either, especially if I don't know them and I hate public speaking. I'd much rather write my thoughts on paper than try to make a speech.
That sounds like a great present, and ahh your little boy must be so excited!ReplyDelete
LOL! It's great to get the gifts that just make your heart sing and make you forget whether or not you're a Christian. Whoopee for your son. Writer’s MarkReplyDelete
Aw, kudos to your little All Star! And dang, Papa Roach??? That's pretty sweet, Jackie. :-)ReplyDelete
Some Dark Romantic
The autographed vinyl is an awesome present, and definitely worth celebrating. I'm only a little jealous ...ReplyDelete
I'm also really shy around people I don't know. I've met some great people since I moved here, but I wouldn't have if they didn't make the first move. :)ReplyDelete
What a great gift! I'd be excited, too.
Congrats to your son!
So glad for your son! Those are amazing moments, and I can only imagine how big his smile must have been. Yay for him!ReplyDelete
Shyn tends to describe a lot of writers(although there are social butterflies out there). I don't enjoy being dropped into a bunch of people I don't know and having to talk with them. I don't know if it's shyness or simply the fact I have no idea what to say. Small talk is so painful and makes me feel even more awkward than before.
'Shy', not shyn :)Delete
Yay for your son, and it seems your sister knew exactly what to get you! Awesome!ReplyDelete
As for social things, I occasionally have a problem being diplomatic when something upsets me. Sometimes on blogs, I have trouble rah-rah-ing like the other commenters when I see something I feel is bad. I should just learn to click away instead of worrying about it, huh?
Papa Roach? Wow: good times!ReplyDelete
Social challenges? Try: finding time to mingle. Yup. Life is busy, eh?ReplyDelete
