Express Yourself

EYM is the weekly meme where Dani and I ask a question or discuss a topic for other bloggers to share and learn more about each other. Please join us HERE!

TOPIC FOR MAY 12-16: Pick one fictional character who you think reflects your personality.
This was difficult because I can pick different things from different characters, but for the sake of this meme, my choice is Zoey Redbird from the House of Night series by mother and daughter duo, P.C. and Kristin Cast.
Zoey and I have a lot of similarities: flippant, loyal, our heritage. My fave part is the special connection we shared with our grandmothers (her maternal, my paternal), who were spiritual in their own way.

TOPIC FOR MAY 19-23: Have you ever known someone or even dated someone who could be a celeb's twin?
I had a roommate in college who was a mix between Linda Hamilton and Robin Penn. I saw a recent picture of her, and still, she resembles them. Lucky girl!
Also, in college, I dated a guy who could've been the doppelgänger of street magician, David Blaine. And another who looked like he could've been related to Matthew McConnaughey, including the southern drawl.

Do you know anyone who could be a celebrity twin?
Is there a fictional character that taps into your own personality?

Express Yourself

Welcome back to Express Yourself! We were on hiatus during the month of April for the A to Z Challenge, but now we're back with new topics!

EYM is the weekly meme where Dani and I ask a question or discuss a topic for other bloggers to share and learn more about each other.

Please join us HERE!

Topic for May 5-9: Choose one of your fave books. Turn to page 89. What are the 8th and 9th sentences or lines? If  8 or 9 lines aren't on that page, then just choose two lines that you want from it.

The book I used for the topic is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green from the Kindle version.
This snippet is between Augustus and Hazel Grace:

"I got it in exchange for the leg," he explained. There was all this light on his face; he had to squint to look at me, which made his nose crinkle adorably.

EYM and Dear Lucky Agent Contest

EYM is a weekly meme where Dani and I ask a question or discuss a topic for other bloggers to share and learn more about each other.

Please join us HERE!

Topic, from March 24: Name one favorite character of your own or one that you've read.

This is difficult. I love so many characters! For the sake of this meme, though, I will choose one....
Hazel Grace from John Green's The Fault in Our Stars. I absolutely adore her. She's one of the strongest characters I've had the joy of reading.

Book description:
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

I'm feeling "eh" lately. I don't know if it's lack of motivation or lost inspiration or what, ... or maybe it's because, I'm unsure of myself. Actually, the first two reasons might be causing insecurity to take over.
So I dug into my hat of quotes (a file where I store them) and chose this:

"Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it's only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up." ~ Jane Yolen

***I think blogging could be added to that quote as exercising the writing muscle, too!!!

We celebrate the happenings of the week, no matter how small or large the celebration.
