Insecure Writer's Support Group, hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh, is a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds. His co-hosts for today are Hart Johnson, Chemist Ken, Candilynn Fite, Terri Rochenski, Clare Dugmore, and Lilica Blake!

To join, click on the links and post on your blog the first Wednesday of every month. Sign up and meet some awesome people.

I'm feeling "eh" lately. I don't know if it's lack of motivation or lost inspiration or what, ... or maybe it's because, I'm unsure of myself. Actually, the first two reasons might be causing insecurity to take over.
So I dug into my hat of quotes (a file where I store them) and chose this:

"Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it's only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up." ~ Jane Yolen

***I think blogging could be added to that quote as exercising the writing muscle, too!!!

  1. Keep pushing through, and the "meh-ness" will go away! :D

  2. I really need to start doing this. A little bit a day is better than none, after all.

  3. I've certainly lost my zeal for blogging lately. Not writing much either. I think it is easier to NOT write, the longer you lay dormant. Use it or lose it.

  4. Meh is hard. lol I think I'm hitting a lull because I haven't been reading as much, so that's what I'm trying to do this month.

  5. Yes! So true! You and I had a similar post for IWSG--maybe it's because we both have lots of boys! I have five boys--it's so nice to meet another mother who can relate! :)

Just keep working that "muscle", and good luck with the writing!

  6. I've been having a similar lack of confidence, which leads to me struggling with my motivation. The quote is a great one!

  7. I always take a break from writing after Christmas, and I always have the hardest time regaining momentum through january and february. It's like they say: A body in rest is likely to keep at rest. Usually, blogging through those slow months eventually helps me to find my grove.
    Best of luck to you!

  8. I've been feeling a little odd lately too. Maybe it's the on-coming of Spring. It's messing with our writer hormones ;)

  9. Every one of us feels like this at some time or other. Be safe in the knowledge that it'll pass and you'll be back to your productive self soon enough.

And yes, I'm sure blogging counts!
