I've been in a bit of a slump, stemming from some promises that were made several months ago, and weren't followed through. It stung. Big time. And while I know that's the nature of this business, I can't seem to climb out of this ... whatever this is.
I've tried taking a break, I've vented to two close friends, I've even tried delving back into my projects... those things help, but I just can't shake this "blah" feeling.
Sorry I'm not chipper in the IWSG world today. I almost didn't post, but I know that I'm in good company and that you would understand. I hope to be back on track soon.
I hope you all are doing great!
Happy writing, my blogging friends!
Yes. My thoughts exactly. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Kindred spirits indeed:) It sounds like we've been through such similar experiences, they could be the same. And I'm so glad you didn't say "It will happen soon." But one day, yes, maybe. I try not to get defeated, but it's so hard to stay positive for so long.

So, I just went back and read my comment. I don't think it made any sense and I umped around all over the place, didn't I? Oh well. It conveys my feelings perfectly!
DeletePromises that are not followed through sting badly. But, we writers ( I am assuming that its a writing related promise) are quite resilient. We manage to survive all the blows and bruises and keep writing and querying.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks that those promises were broken, but you can push past it. Keep focusing on other things, like your writing, and you'll come out of the slump :)
ReplyDeleteSorry someone let you down.
ReplyDeleteHave you taken a vacation lately? Sounds like it couldn't hurt!
And yes, you are in good company with the IWSG.
Slog through the mud. You'll come out of it. And I like Alex's suggestion about taking a vacation. :)
ReplyDeleteI know this feeling very well. Know what? Just breathe. Count your blessings and be grateful for the positive people & things in your life. It will get better.
ReplyDeleteThat slump happens to us all. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I think we have all been there. I hope this quote inspires you to press on:
ReplyDelete“It helps, I think, to consider ourselves on a very long journey: the main thing is to keep to the faith, to endure, to help each other when we stumble or tire, to weep and press on.”~Mary Richards
Hi Jackie!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your slump. And it truly sucks when we're let down. It happens to the best of us. And you're right--this biz is not for the faint of heart. Don't let that slump take over tho. Sometimes ya gotta take life by the reins and show it who's boss! :)
Everyone's entitled to blah moments now and then. Usually a good book that gets me excited about stories again helps.
