Topic for the week: What's the scariest movie you've watched or book you've read that made you unable to sleep?
Seed (book by Ania Ahlborn)
Blurb: In the vine-twisted swamps of Louisiana, the shadows have teeth.
Jack Winter has spent his entire life running from something no one else can see. His childhood is his darkest secret, but after a near fatal accident along a deserted road, the darkness he was sure he’d escaped rears its ugly head… and smiles.
But this time, he isn’t the only one who sees the soulless eyes of his past. This time, his six-year-old daughter Charlie leans into his ear and whispers: Daddy, I saw it too.
And then she begins to change.
Faced with reliving the nightmares of his childhood, Jack watches his daughter spiral into the shadows that had nearly consumed him twenty years before.
But Charlie isn’t the only one who’s changing.
Jack never outran the darkness. It’s been with him all along.
And it’s hungrier than ever.

This book is so creepy good, but I can’t finish it. Yes, it’s that scary to me. I hope to one day. There’s one part where someone's wrestling around under a sheet, but then there’s nothing there. **shivers** The way the author describes it is amazing. That’s great writing!
Seed sounds quite scary.
ReplyDeleteIt is. I received it as an ARC, and I feel bad that I can't finish it, but it's terrifying! LOL
DeleteSeed...wow, that sounds terrifying. I had a hard time coming up with just one book that kept me up at night. Maybe anything by Stephen King in the early years.
ReplyDeleteYeah, King is the master of scaring the crap out of people. LOL
DeleteCell by Stephen King gave me sleepless nights. And it was really a terrible book. Still, I read it and kept the lights on.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read that one, but I like Stephen King.
DeleteI agree with Debra, 'Seed' sounds very very intriguing!!
ReplyDeleteIntriguing, yes. Terrifying, yes. :)
DeleteI've never seen Seed, but it sounds interesting. I may have to watch it some time.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's a movie or not. The above is from the book, which I can't finish because I'm chicken.
DeleteThanks for the shout out on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI've never read a book I couldn't finish - well not because it scared me, anyway, there have been a few where they bored me and I didn't finish. I'm not sure whether to take that as a recommendation, or not ;P
ReplyDeleteI like Paranormal Activity and 2 and 3 are ok, but by 4 I'd had enough. The scariest bit in any of the 4 movies is the bit with the babysitter and the sheet in the kitchen with the swinging camera in 3! :)
I thought all of the Paranormal movies were scary! So, you might think Seed isn't all that scary LOL. I say read it and let me know what you think. :)
