Radleigh is a character in Kyra Lennon's novel Game On and he was kind enough to stop by for a little chat!

Hi, Radleigh. *blushes* First question... What's your middle name?

Mitchell, after my dad. 

What's your first soccer/football memory?
I remember when I was a kid, my Dad used to take my Mom and me on the road with him as often as he could. One of my earliest memories is being in the Westberg Warriors locker room, asking my dad if I could play in a match with him. I guess I was around five then. The guys on the team were really cool, and they let me “train” with them. Really, they just kicked the ball to me and let me kick it back but when you’re five years old, it makes you feel pretty special.

What, about Leah, caught your attention first?

Can I say her ass? No? *laughs* But... I first saw her across the Warriors' cafeteria, and all I could see was the back view! She's real small, petite, and she does have a great ass. When I finally got to see her face, I couldn't stop staring at her lips. So... yeah. Her lips and her ass. 

Any celebrity crushes?

Mila Kunis. Ashton Kutcher is one lucky son of a bitch.

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I don't really have a favorite ice cream flavor.

Guest post - Kyra Lennon - Christmas Traditions

Christmas Traditions

Blindsided is set during the lead-up to Christmas, and one of the things Jesse learns while staying with the Mills family, is that they have a lot of Christmas traditions. We all have them, don’t we? Certain things we do every year, at roughly the same time to get us in the festive mood.

One of the things I took from my own family’s traditions and wrote into the story is putting up the Christmas decorations on the first weekend of December. I don’t know if any of you have guessed this about me yet, but I am a big kid at heart! Once December hits, Christmas mode flicks on in my brain, and I NEED to immerse myself in all the seasonal goodness. The tree comes out (we have to have an artificial one, there isn’t really enough room for a real one, plus those suckers make so much mess!) along with tinsel, lights, garlands, etc. My mum and I always put on Christmas music while we decorate, and quite often, we’ll dance around a bit while we’re hanging things up!

Traditions have changed in my house since I was a kid, mainly because there are less people in the house. When I was a kid, there were more of us, and we did things differently. We still had traditions, but they’ve evolved over the years.

My newest tradition is Christmas baking. I LOVE making cupcakes, and while I am far from being a genius at it, I always like to make Christmas cupcakes, and biscuits. Last year, I had a slight crisis when I ruined a batch of shortbread. Well, I call it a crisis, it wasn’t really. It was just too ugly, misshaped, and crumbly to serve to visitors. I had to eat it all myself! :D

What are your Christmas traditions? Have they changed over the years? Have you taken traditions you had when you were younger, and introduced them to your own family? I wanna hear all about it!

Carson and Allie

I scratch my head and stare at the refrigerated display case.

“What can I help you with, son?” An older lady steps next to me, wiping her hands on her maroon apron.

“I’d like to get my girlfriend a homecoming gift.” I jerk my chin toward a bunch of flowers that I can’t even begin to name. “She’s in the Air Force, and we haven’t seen each other in four months.”

The florist’s eyes glisten with excitement. “Are you meeting her at the airport?”

“Nah. She’s been home for a few days, but her family wanted to spend time with her first.” I scuff my shoe against the floor. “I’m on my way to see her now.”

“Does she like roses?” The florist taps the glass with her finger.

“Yeah, but I want something different.” My eyes pass over the colorful bouquets, like I’m choosing a new video game.

“How about orchids?” She points to a vase of purple flowers. “They represent love, strength, and beauty.”

“Perfect.” I grin. “I’ll take three.”

Sliding the door open, the florist picks three flowers overflowing with petals. She ties a white bow around the stems and hands them to me.

I pull out my wallet. “What do I owe you?”

“No charge.” She pats my forearm. “When you see your girlfriend, tell her thanks for serving her country.”

“Thank you.” I nod and head out the door.

My heart thumps against my chest as I walk a few blocks to the church. Allie and I used to attend it together so agreeing to see her here seemed like a good idea, but now I’m not sure. It’s always been her favorite place, not mine. I only went for her.

“Hello, Carson,” Pastor Edwards says as I enter the church. “We’ve missed seeing you on Sundays.” He shakes my hand and tilts his head toward the sanctuary. “She’s inside.”

I enter the room, void of people. Just me and my girl. I spot her at the front of the church, dressed in her blue military uniform with her auburn hair tucked behind her ears.

Stepping closer, a lump forms in my throat at the frown on her face, and I grip a wooden pew to keep from passing out. Taking a deep breath, I force my feet to the front, even though it’s like I have sand inside my shoes.

“Some reunion this is,” I say as liquid floods my eyes. “You finally come home to me, but we’re saying goodbye.” I place the orchids inside the casket, next to her arm. “You’ll always be my girl, Allie.” Leaning down, I plant a kiss on her cold lips as my tears trickle over her pale skin. “Always.”

Squeezing her hand, my stomach tightens at the thought of letting her go. As I rub her palm with my thumb, I know I don’t have a choice.

I walk away with my heart in pieces, showing no sign of ever being whole again.

Kyra Lennon's Game On Blog Tour - Day 13

My turn has FINALLY arrived for Kyra Lennon's Game On Blog Tour. Woohoo!



I've been waiting not-so-patiently because I'm so excited for Kyra and her debut novel! 



And now, I'll hand over the reigns to Kyra . . .

There is a very good reason I wanted to be right here on Jackie’s blog to talk about the Game On soundtrack. We both share an enormous love of Maroon 5! 

*sigh* I do heart them so much ... Oh, sorry, Kyra. Back to you! 

Maroon 5 seem to have the magic that makes me want to include at least one of their songs to any soundtrack I make for a story. For Game On, the “chosen one” is “Secret.”

When you read the book, you will have a better understanding of why I chose it. ;)


Maroon 5 aside, there are many beautiful songs that contain lyrics than fit certain parts of the story. I always say “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson is Leah’s song. It very much embodies everything Leah is about. The girl who grew up in a small town who wanted to spread her wings and find out who she is, away from the life she’s always known.


Friendship is a strong theme in Game On. The friendship between Leah and Freya is very strong, but many other friendships happen as the story progresses. I chose “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars as the perfect way to show just how much the characters care for each other.

Finally, I chose a fairly recent song as the one I – in my completely impossible fantasies – would use as the closing credits if Game On ever became a movie. “93 Million Miles” by Jason Mraz. As much as Leah rejects her old life, her hometown will always be important to her. The chorus of this song struck a chord with me the first time I heard it, and I think it’s very fitting.

I love the soundtrack, Kyra! Thanks again for letting me join in on this fun blog tour!
