So, I signed up for NaNoWrimo, and as I was writing last night, trying to get my daily word count in, I thought, "What in the heck was I thinking when I committed to this?"
It doesn't seem like 1600+ words a day for a month would be a lot, but it is when you're under a time crunch.
I occasionally stray to edit, but only a few times. Hey, it's a hard habit to break!
But I do like where my story is headed, and I love my characters, so those are bonuses, right?!

Any other bloggers doing NaNo this year? Care to do a word sprint?

~Have a great week and happy writing!

  1. That meme is perfect! lol I thought about doing Nano this year, but I'm helping my friend revise & edit her first novel, and I'm still working on my own, so...maybe next year. :)

    Good luck!

  2. That's awesome that you're enjoying your story and liking your characters. I'm still trying to flush them out as I write. But I totally understand the need to want to go back and change/edit as we write. I'm that way too but NaNo is teaching me some hard lessons and trying to break old habits is not that easy. Right now my biggest problem is having strayed from my outline only 5 days into the challenge. EEEEKKK! Good luck with everything Jackie!

    1. It's teaching me hard lessons, too, which is a good thing, but still frustrating.
We got this, right, Elise? :)

  3. Your opening paragraph made me feel all Christmasy. =)

I'm doing NaNo, although casually. I'm not going to burn myself out, and if I make the finish line, awesome. If not, I still got a TON of work done, and that's good enough for me. When I put too much pressure on, I clamp up. It's not a big deal to write 2000 words a day if you train your brain, eh?

    1. I don't want to burn myself out either, so that's a great way to view things, Crystal. Thank you! :D

  6. You can do it! I beat NaNo in 2010, and I am the slowest writer out there. So if I can do it, you can do it.

  8. I find it hard to write even 500 words a day consistently. Good luck with your NaNo project, seems like you are going strong and having fun.

I really love the revise poster. How awesome.

  9. Yeah I'm doing Nano this year but I'm writing only about 1000 words a day. According to the site, I need to write 1916 (or something like that) a day to finish on time.
