Topic this week: What author(s) would you love to have lunch with?
Stephen King and Neil Gaiman. I think they'd have tons of useful advice and ideas. And their quotes... love 'em:
I try to create sympathy for my characters, then turn the monsters loose. ~ Stephen King
Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win. ~ Stephen King
The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. ~ Neil Gaiman
Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. ~ Neil Gaiman

What author(s) would you love to sit down and share a lunch with?
For current, I'd have lunch with Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. For all time, I'd have lunch with the Apostle Paul.
ReplyDeleteApostle Paul... amazing choice, Alex!
DeleteI was thinking Stephen King and Jodi Picoult. I know, seems like opposites, but both write real life characters that rip your heart out for all the bad that happens in their normal lives.
ReplyDeleteLoved those quotes :)
........dhole
Both great pics, Donna!
DeleteThat last quote alone makes me want to lay prostrate and cry. lol
ReplyDeleteAww. Just channel it into your writing. :)
DeleteBoy, is Neil right about love!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, lunch with an author...OH! One of my faves who's alive and well is MaryJanice Davidson, author of the Undead Vampire Chick-Lit series. I bet we'd have a blasty-blast together! :-)
Some Dark Romantic
Ohh! I'll check out that author. I love vamp stuff!
DeleteI think Anne Lamott or Julia Cameron would be so fun and inspiring to dine with. Michael Perry would be fun-- he is a great writer who manages to sound both well-educated and down-to-earth. And just for the sake of picking his brain, I would love to share a cup of joe with Tracy Kidder.
ReplyDeleteThose are great choices! Such great authors.
